We do not ask you to create or store a Public Demo View username, email login or password.
Your privacy on Public Demo View.
Public Demo View is designed with a minimal-account approach. There is no traditional website registration with an email address and password. Steam authentication is used to identify users who access the upload panel, while public demo-viewing pages can be browsed without creating a Public Demo View account.
Steam sign-in is used for access to the upload panel. The identifier used by the site is your 64-bit SteamID.
We do not sell personal information or use your SteamID64 to build advertising or marketing profiles.
When you sign in through Steam, authentication is handled by Steam. Public Demo View does not ask for or receive your Steam password.
Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Public Demo View handles information when you visit the website, sign in through Steam, use the upload panel, view public demo data or use other features offered through the platform.
Information we collect
Steam authentication
Access to /upload/index.php requires Steam authentication. When authentication succeeds, Public Demo View receives and uses your SteamID64 (your unique 64-bit Steam identifier) so the website can recognize the authenticated Steam user.
Public Demo View does not ask you to provide your Steam password. Your Steam login credentials are entered on Steam's authentication service, not on Public Demo View.
No traditional registration data
Public Demo View does not operate a normal registration system that requires a website username, email address or password. We therefore do not maintain a Public Demo View password database or collect an email address merely for you to access the upload panel.
SteamID64, used to identify the Steam-authenticated user and control access to protected platform features.
How we use information
We use the limited information described in this Policy to:
- authenticate access to the upload panel and other protected platform features;
- associate platform actions with the authenticated SteamID64 where needed for the service to work;
- operate, maintain and secure Public Demo View;
- detect or prevent abuse, fraud, automated misuse or attempts to interfere with the service;
- respond to privacy, support or technical requests that you send to us directly.
We do not use your SteamID64 to send marketing email, because an email address is not required for normal Steam-authenticated access.
Sessions and technical data
The website may use a technically necessary session identifier or cookie to maintain an authenticated session after Steam sign-in. Such a session mechanism is used for security and website functionality, not for advertising.
The web server or hosting provider may also create standard technical or security logs, which can include information such as an IP address, request time, requested page, browser/user-agent information and error or security events. These logs are used for operation, troubleshooting and protection of the service.
Public Demo View does not intentionally use this technical information to create advertising profiles or sell behavioral data.
Demo uploads and public data
If you use the upload feature, the demo file and information parsed from that demo are processed so Public Demo View can provide movement, graph, replay and run-related features.
A Counter-Strike demo may itself contain gameplay, server, nickname, player-identifier or other information created outside Public Demo View. If a demo or parsed run is made public through the platform, information contained in that public result may be visible to visitors who are not signed in.
Please only upload demo files that you are permitted to upload and publish.
Payments
Paid options on Public Demo View may link to PayPal. Payment entry and processing take place through PayPal. Public Demo View does not ask you to enter your credit card number, bank-account details or PayPal password into this website.
PayPal processes payment-related information under its own terms and privacy practices. If Public Demo View receives a payment confirmation necessary to provide a purchased feature, that information is used only for payment verification, access fulfillment, support, accounting or fraud-prevention purposes.
Data sharing
We do not sell or trade your SteamID64 or other personal information for advertising purposes.
Information may be disclosed only where reasonably necessary to:
- operate the website through service or hosting providers;
- use Steam for authentication or PayPal for payments;
- investigate abuse, security incidents or attacks;
- comply with a valid legal obligation, court order or lawful request;
- protect the rights, safety and integrity of Public Demo View, its users or others.
Data retention
SteamID64 data is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide authenticated platform access, preserve service integrity, maintain any access associated with that identifier and address abuse or security issues.
Technical logs, if generated by the website or hosting infrastructure, may be retained for a limited period appropriate to troubleshooting, security and server administration.
Public demo files or parsed public run data may remain available until they are removed under the platform's normal deletion or moderation process.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the information handled by Public Demo View. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, but the platform is designed to minimize the amount of account information it needs to store.
Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights concerning personal information, such as requesting access, correction or deletion, or objecting to certain processing.
Because Public Demo View normally identifies an authenticated user by SteamID64 rather than a local email/password account, we may need enough information to verify that a request relates to the correct SteamID64 before acting on it.
Third-party services
Public Demo View relies on third-party services for specific functions, including Steam for authentication and PayPal for payment processing. When you interact with those services, their own privacy policies and terms apply to the data they process.
Public Demo View is an independent service and is not operated by Valve Corporation or PayPal.
Children
Public Demo View is not intentionally designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe that personal information relating to a child has been submitted to the platform improperly, contact us so the situation can be reviewed.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the platform, its data practices or legal requirements change. The effective date shown at the top of this page will be updated when a revised version is published.
