This platform is primarily for viewing runs and demos, and here is the easiest way to understand how it works:

  1. It can load a .dem file from any LAN cs 1.6 server (known as "LAN .dem").
  2. It can load a .dem file from any Public/online cs 1.6 server (known as "Public .dem").
  3. If the publicdemoview.amxx plugin is installed on the server (LAN included, why not), all runs will be shown on the website (known as "auto-upload via plugin").

The biggest difference between the plugin version and a standard .dem file is that the plugin detects when a user presses the Timer buttons. On timer-start, it starts to record the player's frames, and on timer-end, the plugin uploads them to the website. This means that when any player on your server finishes a map, the run will be visible on the site within 5 seconds (or less).

For a .dem file (whether LAN or Public), it does not detect button presses; it only shows the timer based on the file name (e.g., cg_coldbhop_v2_Ceca_0022.22.dem).

A very important note: when you upload a .dem file to the site, it is not stored on the backend in its original form. The webhost does not keep the exact demo file you uploaded because I am not interested in that. Instead, it is parsed to extract the required data needed to show the graph and play the replay. Only this parsed data is kept on the backend of the platform. If I add footstep sounds to the replay movement later, previously parsed demos won't support them because that data wasn't stored during the initial upload. Just an example—this applies to any other info not currently present on the graph/replay (boring technical stuff, I know...).

Premium users have access to more features, for example: stats for FOG1/FOG2/FOG3+, Bhop & Perfect Bhop percentages, Replay movement for auto-uploaded files, Play movement from a specific frame (from a Graph view by clicking on the desired frame), search by any criteria, and more information.

The point is that everyone can use the platform, and free tier users can see most of the things on the site. With my platform, I explicitly state that it is not about detecting cheats or external tools, but rather to show data present in the demo. I assume most users will be interested in the replay movement function. As time goes on, new features will be added from files (with the .amxx plugin updating in parallel).

If more people are interested in the graph (commands, patterns, etc.), I would be even happier, because it is a very interesting aspect. Many different jump styles can be seen as we have millions (not literally) of players in the KZ community, especially old-school players from 2010 (if anyone still collects them, imagine that). Additionally, here you can check HNS demos, and Deathrun too (some deathrun servers have timers, so you will need to send me the entity name of the timers so I can update the plugin to auto-upload to the platform to play their runs).

Some maps are missing, and you will get a notification when trying to watch a demo if the platform doesn't have it. You can request it directly to me, and most of the time I will be willing to add it to the webserver.

Note: Auto-upload from a server has a restriction that the website will show a maximum of 3 minutes. By buying a premium membership, you get the option to "upgrade" one server IP, which will eliminate that restriction.

It is worth saying that a demo file from a public server can happen to miss some commands sent by a player, because it is more complex than data from a demo directly recorded in the LAN environment. I did my best to display the commands on the graph as precisely as possible (currently it includes: jump, duck, W-S-A-D, mouse, ground state).

I want to say that the unique-web site still shows more stuff in the graph (jumpbug execution, edgebug, more commands sent by a player, and a few more things), so I recommend unique-web if you are willing to check LAN demos more precisely.

For any incorrect readings or issues on the site, you can reach me via any contact method (preferably Discord), and I will try my best to fix/help in any case.

And yes, you will need to Sign in via Steam; otherwise, I will be spammed with bots and the like. Thank you for using publicdemoview <3
